What Happens During Hair Transplant Treatment?

First, your scalp gets a good cleaning. Then, a surgeon numbs a part of your head using a tiny needle and local anesthesia. There are two main ways to get hair follicles: FUT and FUE.

• With Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): The surgeon cuts a strip of skin from the back of your head. The cut is usually a few inches long, and then it gets closed with stitches.
  
  Next, they cut that piece of scalp into small sections using a sharp knife and a magnifying lens. These sections will help your hair grow naturally when they're put back.
  


• For Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): the surgeon directly removes hair follicles from the back of your head through lots of tiny punch incisions.
  
  After that, the surgeon makes tiny holes in the part of your scalp where you want the hair. They carefully place hairs into these holes.
  
  In one session, the surgeon might move hundreds or even thousands of hairs. Your scalp will be covered with graft, gauze, or bandages for a few days after the procedure.
  
  
  Hair transplant sessions usually take about 4 hours or longer. Stitches come out around 10 days after the surgery.
  
  
  To get the full head of hair you want, you might need three or four sessions. Each session is a few months apart to let each transplant heal properly.

After-Care Protocols For Hair Transplant Treatment

Follow these steps for the best results after your hair transplant:

• Take pain medication as prescribed.
• Avoid touching or scratching the transplanted area. Tell your doctor if you notice redness, swelling, or pain.
• Steer clear of strenuous activities like heavy lifting or playing sports.
• Sleep with your head raised at least 45 degrees for the first three nights, using a neck pillow.
• After three to four days, gently wash your hair using a mild shampoo and pour water softly over the area.
• Avoid bathing, showering, or soaking the transplant area underwater for at least a month.
